SnowPlus Winter Sports

A. General Terms

  1. Please read the following Terms & Conditions carefully before booking a lesson and before participating in any lesson. By booking a lesson or paying for any product or service related to SnowPlus Winter Sports, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted all of the Terms & Conditions set out below.
  1. Unless confirmed in writing by the School, no SnowPlus employee, instructor, or partner is authorised to unilaterally amend these Terms & Conditions, or to promise any refund, make-up lesson, rescheduling, transfer, or other exceptional arrangement.
  1. Except in the transfer situations expressly provided for in these Terms & Conditions, the services of SnowPlus Winter Sports are non-transferable.
  1. During lesson hours, the instructor may, according to on-site circumstances, assist with matters such as lift ticket purchase and equipment rental adjustments. If you wish to preserve the fullest possible actual on-snow teaching time, we recommend that you allow sufficient time before the lesson to complete equipment rental, dressing, and related preparations.

B. Safety Terms

  1. When a student, parent, or guardian books a lesson with SnowPlus Winter Sports, they should already understand that snowsports are dangerous and may result in injury. During the lesson, please follow the relevant safety instructions given by the School's instructors and the applicable safety rules of the ski resort.
  1. Before the lesson, the student must hold valid travel accident insurance or other insurance, and must confirm that such insurance covers skiing/snowboarding activities. Except where the School or the instructor is legally liable due to wilful misconduct or gross negligence, the student shall bear the risks and losses arising from the skiing/snowboarding activity itself, from their own state of health, from the ski resort environment, or from third-party factors.
  1. Although the School's instructors will endeavour to provide safe instruction, skiing/snowboarding activities nonetheless carry inherent risks. By participating in a lesson, the student acknowledges that they are fully aware of and assume the potential accidental risks that may occur, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, head trauma, collisions, falls, or other injuries caused by human or non-human factors. The School will provide necessary assistance according to the actual circumstances.
  1. The School treats student safety as its first priority and strongly recommends that students be equipped with protective gear such as a helmet, protective pads, and gloves. The School's fees do not include such safety equipment; please have your personal safety equipment ready before the lesson.
  1. All teaching locations are public areas. Students are responsible for safeguarding their own valuables, equipment, and personal belongings. Except where the School or the instructor is legally liable due to wilful misconduct or gross negligence, the School is not responsible for the loss, damage, replacement cost of personal belongings during the lesson, or for any time loss arising therefrom.

C. Lesson Terms

  1. Lesson hours:
  1. The six hours of a full-day lesson include a one-hour lunch break. The lesson fee does not include the cost of lunch. For children's lessons, the parent or guardian must provide in advance the funds the child needs for lunch; if the instructor is required to accompany the child during the meal, please provide meal funds for both the instructor and the child in advance so that care can be arranged.
  1. Students should assemble at the designated meeting point at the agreed lesson time, and should complete dressing and necessary preparations before the lesson begins where possible. If, due to first-time skiing/snowboarding, ski resort rules, or on-site circumstances, the instructor is required to assist with purchasing lift tickets, the instructor may provide such assistance within lesson hours according to the actual situation; the time used for this purpose is still counted towards the original lesson time. If the lesson time is shortened due to lateness, incomplete equipment preparation, or other personal factors, no make-up hours or delayed finish time will be provided.
  1. The lesson price does not include lift tickets, ski/snowboard equipment rental fees, or safety equipment fees. Students may raise requests at the time of booking, and the School will provide relevant information or assist with arrangements according to the nature of the order and its operational capacity. Where proxy purchase or proxy payment is involved, the scope of service must be confirmed in advance and a service fee may be charged separately (quoted on a case-by-case basis); the School does not guarantee that all orders can be accepted.
  1. When there are multiple participants in a lesson, it is recommended that the students be of similar skiing/snowboarding levels, in order to maintain safety and teaching quality. If the levels of students within the same lesson differ significantly, the School or instructor will prioritise safety and may recommend dividing the group, arranging separate instructors, or setting the more beginner-level student as the primary teaching benchmark. No additional refund or make-up lesson will be provided for any resulting adjustment to the skiing range, lesson progress, or teaching content.
  1. Snowboard and ski cannot be taught within the same lesson. If you wish to learn both disciplines, please book them separately. If you wish to change discipline after booking and payment, please proceed in accordance with the E.5 Lesson Content Change terms.
  1. If a student requires a designated instructor, please raise this at the time of booking. The School will confirm subject to instructor availability and lesson scheduling, and an additional instructor designation fee will apply. If the designated instructor is unable to teach due to health, emergency, or other unforeseeable circumstances, the matter will be handled in accordance with E.6 Change of Designated Instructor.
  1. Apart from the originally enrolled student(s), if a companion wishes to ski/snowboard alongside the lesson, this must be notified in advance and confirmed on-site by the instructor as not affecting lesson safety and teaching arrangements. A companion skier/rider is not regarded as a formally enrolled student, and the School is not responsible for their skiing/snowboarding safety, insurance, equipment, lift tickets, or any accident. If the companion actually receives instruction, joins the practice, or affects the original lesson arrangement, the School or instructor has the right to require them to stop participating, or to handle the matter in accordance with E.5 ③ Change in Number of Participants.

D. Children's Lessons

  1. Age and group-size limits: The minimum age for children's lessons is four years old. Because pre-school children's physical, cognitive, and psychological development is not yet mature and varies greatly, children aged four and above but under seven are offered private (one-to-one) lessons only, with the primary focus on experiencing the fun of the snow. For children aged seven and above but under twelve, the maximum class size is three, and in order to prevent disruptive behaviour by a child from affecting teaching quality, the instructor has the right to request that the parent come to assist; in serious cases, the School has the right to suspend or terminate the lesson. Proof of age may be required at the time of booking and/or before the lesson.

Teaching benchmark for mixed-age and combined adult-child groups: Adult lessons and children's lessons are different lesson categories, and their fee tiers and group-size limits are not necessarily the same. If a single order includes both children and adults, the School will confirm whether joint lessons are suitable based on the students' ages, skiing/snowboarding levels, and safety considerations. If there is a significant difference in age or level among students in the same group, the instructor will set the younger or more beginner-level student as the teaching benchmark, and the skiing range, pace, and technical content for the other students may be adjusted accordingly. A student who has concerns about their experience arising from the aforementioned teaching-benchmark adjustment may not claim a refund or make-up lesson under E.3, E.9, or any other clause of these Terms & Conditions. The School may recommend booking separately at the time of order intake in order to enhance each individual student's experience, but the final booking arrangement is decided by the student.

  1. Children participating in a lesson must be able to use the toilet independently. The School has the right to refuse any child who cannot use the toilet independently or who requires adult accompaniment. During a full-day lesson, the parent or guardian should understand that the child may come into contact with and be exposed to an environment that may cause allergies; if any problem arises, no liability will be pursued against the School. The booking form for all children must be filled in with the identity information of the parent or guardian and accurate contact details, to ensure that they can be reached immediately in an emergency.
  1. Children's lessons are for the purpose of ski/snowboard instruction and snow experience. If a child temporarily does not wish to ski/snowboard during the lesson, the instructor may, within a range that is safe and does not affect the lesson arrangement, switch to rest, snow acclimatisation, or accompanying activities. If the child continues to refuse to participate, becomes emotionally uncontrollable, or the instructor judges that the lesson can no longer safely continue, the instructor will contact the parent to come to the site to assist, and may, if necessary, end the lesson early. For the remaining lesson time and fees arising from the above situations, no refund, make-up lesson, deferral, retention to a future season, or transfer will be provided.
  1. The parent or guardian is responsible for ensuring that your child holds/has purchased a valid lift ticket before the lesson begins.
  1. For a student who, for personal reasons, does not book in accordance with the children's lesson rules, if any safety issue arises during the lesson or the lesson is thereby disrupted, the student shall bear the relevant consequences and responsibility, and the School will not be liable.

E. Booking and Cancellation Rules

E.1 Booking Channel

Students may book lessons online through the official SnowPlus booking system, and will receive a confirmation notice and booking details within 48 hours.

E.2 Payment Deadline

After receiving the online invoice, please pay the full fee within three days to secure the booking.

E.3 Cancellation and Refund Standards

The calculation basis for the number of days is set out in E.10 Common Refund Rules.

Cancellation timingRefund proportion
29 days or more before the lesson dateRefund of the lesson fee, less the payment-platform processing fee (capped at 10% of the lesson fee; see E.10 d)
14 to 28 days before the lesson dateRefund of 50% of the lesson fee (the School absorbs the payment-platform processing fee, which is not deducted separately)
0 to 13 days before the lesson date (including the lesson day)The lesson fee is non-refundable; one 15%-off (85% of price) voucher for the next season is provided (usage rules per E.10 h)

a. If a partial cancellation is requested for a multi-session lesson (cancelling some of the sessions), the refund amount is calculated on a "per-session individual calculation then summed" basis:

Refund amount for each cancelled session = per-session lesson fee × the refund proportion individually applicable to that session

(Per-session lesson fee = total lesson fee ÷ total number of sessions; each session applies the tier in the table above based on "the number of days between that session's lesson date and the refund application date," and the results are then summed to give the total refund amount.)

b. Other common refund rules (refund method, timeline, handling of non-lesson fees) are governed by E.10.

E.4 No-show / Same-day Abandonment of Lesson Policy

(1) Definition of no-show / same-day abandonment of lesson

The following situations are regarded as a no-show or same-day abandonment of the lesson:

  1. The student does not arrive at the meeting point at the lesson time, and did not notify in advance via the official social media account or email.
  2. The student did notify in advance, but on the lesson day, after the instructor has already reported for duty or has already arrived at the meeting point, the student decides not to attend the lesson due to their own factors.

In the above situations, the lesson fee is non-refundable, with no make-up lesson, no deferral, no retention to a future season, and no transfer.

(2) Delay of lesson time caused by the student's own factors

If a student delays the lesson time due to their own factors (such as lateness, not having a lift ticket, unsuitable equipment, etc.), the time already delayed is still counted towards the original lesson time, and the School will not make up the hours, delay the finish time, provide a make-up lesson, or refund. This situation is not directly regarded as a no-show / same-day abandonment of lesson; the lesson is still conducted by the instructor during the remaining time.

(3) Exception guidance

If a student is temporarily unable to attend due to injury or another legitimate reason, they must proactively notify before the lesson begins and submit supporting documents, and the matter will be handled in accordance with E.9 Student Injury or Legitimate Reason. A student who notifies only after the lesson has begun, or who does not notify in advance, will be handled uniformly in accordance with paragraph (1) of this clause.

E.5 Lesson Content Change

If the lesson content needs to be changed after booking and payment, the matter is handled according to the following categories. Peak-season dates are as announced on the official website.

① Free changes (may be requested at any time, including in peak season, at no additional charge, limited to 1 time per item):

The above free changes remain conditional on instructor qualification, instructor availability, and the feasibility of actual lesson scheduling; if they cannot be accommodated, the School will discuss alternative arrangements with the student.

② Conditional changes (subject to instructor availability; the School will make its best effort but cannot guarantee; limited to 1 time):

If a conditional change cannot be accommodated, or if a change request not listed in this clause is made, or if the change count limit specified in this clause is exceeded, the School reserves the right to refuse it and to treat it as a cancellation of the lesson, to be handled per the E.3 refund principles, after which a new booking must be made.

③ Change in number of participants

The School charges on a "tiered group pricing" basis, meaning that different participant-number tiers correspond to different group fees, and it is not charged per head (for example, 1–2 persons / 3–4 persons / 5–6 persons are each an independent price tier; the actual amount is subject to the lesson DM on the official website).

If the number of participants changes after booking and payment, the matter is handled according to the following rules:

(a) Increase in number of participants

(b) Decrease in number of participants (crossing a price tier)

Refund the difference between the old and new tiers, calculated according to the E.3 cancellation proportion (based on the number of days between the change application date and the lesson date), with the payment-platform fee deducted per E.10 d.

(c) Decrease in number of participants (within the same tier, including due to injury or legitimate reason)

The lesson fee is priced by group; as the group tier has not changed, the School will not provide a separate refund. The affected student(s) may choose one of the following options:

(i) Replacement companion (applicable to single-day or multi-session lessons):

When an originally booked student is unable to attend the lesson, another student may take their place. Applicable scenarios include:

Relevant rules:

(ii) Compensatory discount voucher:

If no one is available to take their place, and the original student's situation is an injury or legitimate reason (supporting documents must be provided per E.9), one 15%-off (85% of price) voucher for the next season may be obtained (usage rules per E.10 h).

(d) Cancellation of the entire group

Handled per E.3.

④ Peak-season transfer

If the student is unable to attend during peak season, the lesson may be transferred to another person, handled in accordance with the E.10 g common transfer rules.

E.6 Change of Designated Instructor

If the designated instructor is unable to teach due to health or emergency circumstances, SnowPlus will arrange another instructor of the same language ability, teaching experience, and level, and no refund will be provided on this account.

E.7 Official Closure of the Ski Resort

If, due to severe weather or safety factors, the ski resort officially announces the closure of the resort for the day, such that the lesson cannot proceed, the School will give priority to maintaining the lesson by means of (1) changing to another resort within the same area, below. The student may also choose (2) to defer to another date; among these, (3) cancelling the lesson and obtaining a refund applies only when no SnowPlus-teachable ski resort within the Niseko area is open on that day.

(1) Change to another resort within the same area (default option)

If a SnowPlus-teachable ski resort within the Niseko area remains open, the School will change to that resort free of charge (including transfers); if the student chooses to go to a resort outside the Niseko area, they shall pay the additional transfer-fee difference.

(2) Deferral to another date

Handled in accordance with the E.10 f lesson retention period and transfer rules, with no change-processing fee charged. If the original booking was at the off-season price and is deferred to be used in peak season, the difference between the then-announced peak-season and off-season prices must be paid; conversely, if a peak-season lesson is deferred to be used in the off-season, the difference is not refunded.

(3) Cancellation of the lesson and refund

Applies only when no SnowPlus-teachable ski resort within the Niseko area is open on that day. The lesson fee is refunded, less the payment-platform processing fee (capped at 10% of the lesson fee; see E.10 d); in addition, one 10%-off (90% of price) voucher for booking in the next season is provided (usage rules per E.10 h).

Transfer fee: Any prepaid transfer fee, where the transfer did not actually take place due to the resort closure, is refunded in full, with no charge applied.

Lift ticket: For a lift ticket purchased by the student directly from the ski resort or a third party, the refund is to be applied for by the student directly with the ticket seller; the School does not intervene in or assist with this.

E.8 Weather Factors Other Than Official Resort Closure

If the ski resort's lifts are operating normally and a student applies to cancel the lesson on the basis of their personal perception of the weather (such as perceived cold, snowfall volume, visibility, etc.), the School will in principle handle the matter in accordance with the E.3 Cancellation and Refund Standards, and no additional refund will be provided. This clause applies to a cancellation application made before the lesson begins; if, on the lesson day, after the instructor has already reported for duty or arrived at the meeting point, the student decides not to attend on the basis of their personal perception of the weather, the matter is handled per E.4 Same-day Abandonment of Lesson.

E.9 Student Injury or Legitimate Reason

If a student is temporarily unable to attend due to an accidental injury or another legitimate reason, they must proactively notify the School before the lesson begins via the official social media account or email, and submit relevant supporting documents (such as a medical diagnosis certificate, emergency-room receipt, police report, or insurance record, with a document date on the lesson day or the day before). After the School's review and approval, the student may choose one of the following three options:

  1. Defer the lesson: handled in accordance with the E.10 f lesson retention period and transfer rules; if not used by the deadline, it is deemed abandoned.
  2. Transfer the lesson: handled in accordance with the E.10 g common transfer rules.
  3. Apply for a refund: handled in accordance with the E.3 Cancellation and Refund Standards, with the refund proportion calculated by the number of days between the "refund application date" and the lesson date. The School does not provide a refund proportion higher than the E.3 tiers on account of injury or legitimate reason, and the payment-platform fee is deducted per E.10 d.

For a student who does not proactively notify before the lesson begins, does not submit supporting documents, or whose documents are not approved by the School's review, the deferral, transfer, or refund handling under this clause does not apply; the School will, based on the student's actual notification time and the lesson status, apply either the E.3 Cancellation and Refund Standards or the E.4 No-show / Same-day Abandonment of Lesson Policy.

E.10 Common Rules for Refunds and Lesson Handling

The common refund rules of this clause (a–e, h) apply to all refund scenarios (including E.3, E.5, E.7, E.8, E.9). E.4 no-show / same-day abandonment of lesson is not subject to the refund, retention, and transfer rules.

The common retention rule (f) applies only to the two scenarios E.7 and E.9; the common transfer rule (g) applies to E.5 ④ peak-season transfer, E.7, and E.9 (including the transfer of a lesson retained under E.10 f).

a. Refund method

All refunds are returned via the same payment channel as the original payment.

b. Refund timeline

Refunds are divided into two stages; please note the difference:

If the School has already submitted the refund but you have still not received it, you are welcome to contact us, and we will assist you in checking the progress with the payment platform. (For the day-count calculation of the refund proportion, see paragraph c of this clause.)

c. Day-count calculation basis

This item is used to determine which E.3 tier the refund proportion falls into, and is unrelated to how long the refund takes to be credited (see paragraph b of this clause).

The number of days is the full number of days between "the day on which you submit the cancellation, change, or refund application" and "the lesson date," counted backwards from 00:00 Japan Standard Time (JST) on the lesson day as the endpoint (for example, an application made on the 15th day before the lesson is counted as 15 days).

If your application date falls exactly on the boundary between two tiers (for example, the 14th day or the 29th day), the School will proactively calculate using the tier that is more favourable to you with the higher refund proportion; you need not make any separate claim.

d. Payment-platform fees

Because the School collects payment through third-party payment platforms (such as Square, NewebPay, ECPay, etc.), upon refund, the payment-platform fees, cross-border card fees, exchange-rate differences, and administrative processing costs that were incurred by the original transaction and cannot be recovered will be deducted from the refund amount; the deducted amount is capped at 10% of the lesson fee, with the actual amount calculated according to the original payment platform and transaction status (generally around 3–4% of the transaction amount; 10% is merely the cap). However, in the E.3 "14 to 28 days before the lesson date" 50% partial-refund scenario, the aforementioned fees are absorbed by the School and are not separately deducted from the student's refund amount.

e. Non-lesson fees

Except as otherwise provided in these Terms & Conditions, non-lesson fees such as equipment rental, lift tickets, or other proxy purchases are non-refundable, regardless of the reason for cancellation.

f. Lesson retention period and transfer

The "deferred use" / "lesson retention" scenarios under these Terms & Conditions apply only to the following two situations:

In both cases, the principle is retention for use until the end of the next season; if not used by the deadline, it is deemed abandoned and no refund is provided.

Transfer rules for retained lessons:

  1. A lesson retained due to E.7 ski resort closure deferral: may be transferred to another person in accordance with the E.10 g common transfer rules, limited to 1 transfer.
  2. A lesson retained due to E.9 student injury or legitimate reason deferral (where the student proactively notified before the lesson began and passed the supporting-document review): may be transferred to another person in accordance with the E.10 g common transfer rules, limited to 1 transfer.

g. Common transfer rules

All "transfer" scenarios under these Terms & Conditions (including E.5 ④ peak-season transfer, E.9 injury transfer, and E.10 f retained-lesson transfer) are handled according to the following rules:

h. Common voucher rules

The next-season vouchers listed in these Terms & Conditions (including but not limited to E.3, E.5 ③ (c)(ii), and E.7 (3)) are all subject to the following rules:

(i) Valid for use only by the original booking student in person; may not be transferred to any third party.

(ii) Valid until the closing date of business of the next season; expires thereafter with no further notice.

(iii) May not be combined with any other offer, discount, or promotion.

(iv) May only be applied against lesson fees; may not be exchanged for cash, may not receive change, and may not be used for non-lesson items (such as equipment, lift tickets, proxy purchases, etc.).

(v) Must be presented proactively with the voucher number at the time of booking; retroactive application is not permitted.
